About the Instructor

Naomi Maxwell began teaching private music lessons in 2010. She has a passion for student-centered learning and enjoys teaching music to people of all ages and abilities. She has taught students ranging from age five to adult, and is a member of the National Association for Music Education, Piano Teacher’s Federation, and the American Harp Society. She previously served as treasurer for the Tacoma Chapter of the Washington State Music Teachers Association. In addition to her experience teaching music, Naomi worked as an educator in Seoul, South Korea, where she taught English as a foreign language to elementary students.

Naomi is a summa cum laude graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, where she completed her Bachelor of Musical Arts degree, and is currently studying at the University of Washington Tacoma as a candidate in the Teacher Certification Program, with dual endorsements in K-8 Elementary Education and Teaching English Language Learners. As a pianist and harpist, she has participated in multiple solo and ensemble performances with orchestras, choirs, piano ensemble, and harp ensemble. She is an active freelance harpist, performing frequently throughout the Pacific Northwest. In her spare time, Naomi enjoys cycling, triathlon, cooking, and travel.
